St Just Apartment
St Just is a unique Edwardian apartment situated in the heart of the city. Minutes from the university and a short stroll into the city centre, it is just a five minute drive from Silversprings. St Just was built in the late 1800's as the private residence of a prosperous sea-merchant who had business in the city related to the international maritime trade of its time.
The apartment still retains many of its period features, including the floor to ceiling hardwood paneling of the original dining room, the decorative wooden flooring, along with the service bells for the butler and maid. The luxurious family bathroom was once a pantry storing preserves and wine for the merchant's famous dinner parties. Hidden amongst the wooden paneling are secret safes carefully concealing items or documents of value and some of which are now on display in the hallway of the apartment. The large master bedroom was once a drawing room where the ladies would retire after luncheon either to read or embroider and enjoy the late afternoon sun.
The apartment has been loving restored to its original glory but incorporating all of today's facilities, which include WiFi internet access, Sky+, widescreen TV with DVD player and a modern, fully equipped kitchen with gas hob, fan oven, 'fridge freezer, microwave and washer dryer.
St Just has been beautifully decorated to match the style and period of the property to ensure a comfortable and pleasurable stay. The apartment has its own private parking, security entrance system and use of the communal gardens.
